Detailed Itinerary
After having breakfast, you will start your tour with Mabamba swamp insearch for the rare shoebill stork. You will be driven to Nakiwongo landing site where you will take a boat to Mabamba swamp a Ramsar birding site famous for the shoebill stork. Apart from the shoebill stork, you will also come across other birds like the; African darter, African fish eagle, pied kingfisher papyrus gonolek, etc. You will also enjoy great scenic views of the world’s fresh water lake hence great photographic opportunity for memories. Afterwards, you will head back to the dock then drive to Entebbe town for your delicious lunch. You will later head to Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Center which was founded in 1952 to accommodate confiscated and injured wildlife and to look after orphan animals confiscated from smugglers. It is also one of the most prominent conservation education institutions in Africa that carries a mandate of educating Ugandans about the importance of conserving the country’s biodiversity. While here, you will come across animals in their cages like the zebras, lions, tigers, leopards, elephants, buffalos, water bucks, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, Jackson’s hartebeests, cheetahs, caracals, rhinos, elands, civet cats. Reptiles include; the rock pythons, carbon vipers, black mambas, Jameson’s mambo and primates like the chimpanzees, black and white colobus, DeBraza monkey, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, etc. You will also come across different birds like the turacos, kingfishers, robin chats, herons, finches, starlings, thrushes, bee-eaters, sunbirds, goose, flycatchers, peacocks, the rare shoebill and many more. If you are interested in botany, you will also find live collections of traditional medicinal plants.
